ETA: Thanks to the FIAR ladies and Ethel, who let me know that this is an Osage orange. I probably should have known that. I have another item we picked up at the park today that I will quiz you on tomorrow! ; )
It is a hedge apple....not edible....but I think you can slice them crosswise thin and put them in the oven on really low and dry them and do something crafty with them....I think I've seen that somewhere.......RWBGMA
Looks like a Hedge Apple to me. Not eatable for humans.
