L is for Lizard

(Just for you, it's a little Rock Art and the X-Ray Style tonight.)

This morning we went to zoo class; this month was "L is for Lizard." Jack learned that:
  • Lizards are bumpy.
  • Lizards walk on their feet.
  • Lizards eat worms.

He made a cute little lizard that is rainbow colored and has rough spots (sandpaper) and bumpy spots (sequins).

After class we went to lunch. This child LOVES Parmesan cheese!

This afternoon was pretty lazy. Jack spent a lot of time playing with some plastic Easter eggs. We also got out our new set of dry erase markers and he thought those were pretty nifty.

We also put new batteries in his Elmo spinner in preparation for tomorrow!

That's about it for around here!

Nonsense! I'm always careful!

The title doesn't really have anything to do with anything; Jack just said it today and I thought it was funny, especially coming from this three year old tornado of a child.

This morning we had a meeting and then we went to the book fair at our friend's school. Jack thought it was wonderful and he picked out a new Corduroy book, two new Henry and Mudge books, and No, David! He thinks David is hysterical.

A little singing time.

Even though it was REALLY windy we went to the park since the weather is supposed to get bad tomorrow. We met up with some friends there and Jack had a blast.

At the park we found the same kind of seeds we had found on the nature walk we took at the museum. Jack collected tons of them and put them in our bag.

At the store this morning he got a new timer toothbrush. You can't see it in the picture, but it flashes for the length of time they are supposed to brush. He tells me he will brush a lot because he doesn't want to get holes in his teeth.

He is finally asleep--it took so long that I dozed off, too. Did I mention that he was up again at 6:45?? Now I am doing a little work on the computer (tonight it's to the tunes of Streetcore) and then I am off to scrapbook.

Painting and Playing

That pretty much sums it up. This morning Jack tried out a little watercolor paint set he got yesterday. For a picture of Peeps, it turned out pretty nice.

He spent the rest of the morning playing and watching Corduroy Lost and Found over and over.

After lunch we went to play with some FIAR friends. Jack and I both had a great time!

Now he's playing pirates in the bathtub. Hopefully he will sleep well tonight!

Katy No Pocket

This week we have been rowing Katy No-Pocket, the story of a mama kangaroo with no pocket to carry her joey. We were going to do this book a couple of weeks ago when we were scheduled for a kangaroo class at the zoo, but that was the weekend we were felled by the stomach bug. When we went last week the kangaroos had been moved, so we still did not get to see them!

The cover of Jack's lapbook

Inside:
The map and kangaroo picture came from Enchanted Learning; the tool cards can be found on HomeschoolShare; the K game (the big kangaroo) came from KidsSoup; I made the animal families grid.

Fact sheet from KidsSoup

My friend Rachel made this cute apron with lots of pockets! I don't know if you can see it well in the picture, but he has lots of different animals in the different pockets.

Jack had a great time making this kangaroo. (I found it at KidsSoup.) He had the idea that he should glue buttons on the pocket to keep it on, so this Katy would not end up like Katy from the book. In her pocket are the leaves and grass that kangaroos like to eat.

Tool bingo (Doesn't he look excited in this picture?)

Playing the "K" game from KidsSoup.

Manic Monday

We had another crazy Monday this week. We woke up to blowing snow and overturned garbage bins in the street. The wind last night was insane! This morning we went to storytime, the toy store, and the bookstore.
Jack with his new cash register.

Playing trains

I came in to find Jack trying to be like Bobey.

This afternoon we had to go to the store, get my eyebrows done, and run a couple of errands before heading to our fundraiser dinner. All that running around did not mix so well with a tired three year old, and by bedtime the new cash register was residing on top of the refrigerator.

Worn out!

Lazy Sunday

There's not much to tell about our day today; it was extremely lazy. Jack played with PlayDoh for probably close to two hours total, and while he did that, I got in some scrapbooking.

We also played games for a while--Bingo and Go Fish. He is pretty good!

Other than that, we did some Katy stuff and watched a movie. And that was our exciting day! Jack is in the bathtub now and when he goes to bed I think I will, too!

Silence is Golden

I am not listening to anything tonight while I work on the computer--just sweet silence. Last night (2:54 am, to be exact) the smoke alarm started beeping. And kept beeping until about 1:30 this afternoon when the rescue squad rode in to save my sanity and reset the system. So tonight I am enjoying listening to nothing at all!

The bucket didn't keep the beeping out.

Eventually we retreated to the bedroom where at least the beeping was a little softer. Jack did some cluttering while I was trying to declutter. He had so much fun with the laundry baskets. Later he moved them to the living room and used them to play lasers for about an hour.

For lunch he told me he wanted "homemade Taco Bueno." Then he decided he wanted to make his own quesadilla. He did a pretty good job!

This evening we went to a barbecue. Jack had a blast playing with the "big kids."

Everyone says hello!

And that was our day. I was sure Jack would fall asleep on the way home, but of course he didn't. He stayed up all the way and managed to watch two episodes of Berenstain Bears and listen to a book before falling asleep. Now I am off to scrapbook and to bed!
