They Hatched!

The baby robins I posted about last week have hatched!

I think their eyes are a little creepy looking, but they are really cute when they open their mouths. They would open their mouths whenever they heard the leaves move back.No food?? Three disappointed little robins! Don't their beaks even look a little turned down at the corners? haha
We watched the mama bringing worms over, but we never got to see her actually drop the worms in. And yes, I watched a long time. I am stalking that poor little robin family! They are just too neat!
We will be back this weekend, so stay tuned for more pictures!

The Last Few Days

The last few days have been busy ones! Monday we went to storytime (the last one until June!) and then headed out of town. Jack stayed with Grandma and Piers and I went to visit Grandpa Jack and to see some of my former students that are graduating this year.

After that, we all met up for pizza for Piers's birthday!

Jack, Grandma, and Grandpa
Tuesday the kids got some more play time together. Jack and Piers were digging a secret passageway that ended up in the ditch.

Boris loves to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house! He seemed quite content that the towel cabinet was arranged quite nicely for him to hide behind the towels. Since he hates riding in the car, we left him there and will pick him up when we're back this weekend. The house seems kind of empty without him!
This morning we came back to our house. Since Jack and I have both been feeling bad, we didn't do too much. We did have to get out the glue kit that we found on sale at Michael's last week, though. You can never feel too bad to glue, right? We'll see how it turns out.
It seems like I'm always saying this, but tomorrow is another busy day, so I'm going to bed early tonight!

Taking It Easy

Today was much more laid back than yesterday. Grandma and Grandpa got us donuts for breakfast and the kids played all morning. For lunch we went to Taco Bueno, which made Jack quite happy.
After lunch everyone else went home and Jack and I did some piddly chores around the house. The weather was quite nice, so we played some baseball (or Jack's version of baseball) for a while.
One of our azalea bushes bloomed! I was sure we were going to have to replace them all, but at least one has survived.

That was our day! Tomorrow the pace will pick up again, but it was nice to have an easy day in between.

The Rest of the Day

Our day was definitely not done with Touch a Truck. There was still a lot more to do. And, of course, I took a ton of pictures.

After Touch a Truck we headed to lunch at Red Robin. Yum!
When we got home I mowed the lawn (yes, you read that right!) while my dad and Erik put this big shelf together. We have decided that if there is another depression and we all have to move in together that the kids are sleeping here. Each shelf holds up to 500 pounds, so we should be set.
Later we went swimming at the hotel. Jack took swim lessons a couple of years ago, but since then he has not been in the pool a lot, so he hung on Grandpa quite a bit.

After swimming we got our dinner and took it to the park for a picnic. The weather was perfect; the table manners, not so much.

I spotted our state bird while we were at the park! I'll have to look that up in our bird call book.
When we got home the kids played some more and then settled down to watch a movie before bed. Jack didn't last long!

Tomorrow there will be more playing in the morning and then hopefully some relaxing in the afternoon!

Touch a Truck

Today we went to Touch a Truck, the annual fundraiser for the library where we attend storytime. This is the third year we have done this and Jack really looks forward to it. This year my parents and my sister and her family came down to join the fun! Of course there are lots of pictures...

The seat in this race car was so low that if I stepped more than a foot away from the car I couldn't see Jack. So all you get is the close-up!
This huge camper-trailer thing was Jack's favorite last year and he was excited to see it again this year. We think Grandma and Grandpa need one of these.

Truckers!

Two out of the three years he has had a really bad reaction to the school bus. Do you think this is a sign? ; )
Jack was very impatient to get on the helicopter. Luckily we saw our friend Kira in line and that distracted him for a bit.
This year Jack's favorite thing this year was the fire safety house. He went up and down the stairs and out to the balcony over and over but he wouldn't climb down the ladder.

Jack and Ms. Susan, our storytime librarian

We're already looking forward to next year!

His Father's Son

Just in case there was any doubt of who Jack's father is...Yesterday I came into the computer room to find Jack on the futon with one of Jay's controllers, pretending to play a video game about finding different shades of paint. A little creepy if you ask me.

Picnic Playdate

This morning we took our crafts and cookies to the retirement home and visited with the residents for a while. Then it was on to the park for a picnic playdate with friends! A few pictures...

It was chilly at first, but the sun came out and it was beautiful! We've got a book party to go to later, so it may be a late night. Hopefully Jack will sleep well tonight because we've got an exciting weekend planned!

All Hail the Conquering Hero

Jack conquered his old play area nemesis, The Doghouse, today. Since he was probably 2 years old he has been dying to climb on top of the doghouse, but he just couldn't quite get it. We had reached a compromise that when it was time to go I would put him on the top a couple of times so he could jump off. Today, though, he had a plan.

I couldn't quite decide whether I should laugh at the plan or scream, because the sight of him hurling himself toward the house looked funny, but it did make me a little nervous. In the end I decided that the house was pretty foamy so he probably couldn't get hurt too much.

Once he had it figured out, there was no stopping him. It was climb, fling, jump, repeat for about half an hour.

There was no success with the helmet this time, but he did seem to be making some progress.

After all that fun, we went for some lunch.

Not to be outdone, Bobe conquered the wrapping paper roll.

This evening we set up the water table. After the ice storm we have half a shade tree to play under.

Tomorrow's another busy one!

Time to Play!

Deleise tagged me a few days ago, so here are my answers!

Here are the rules:

1. The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.

2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
3. At the end of the post, the player tags 5 people and posts their name, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

What was I doing 10 years ago:
I was just finishing college and enjoying my last few weeks of no responsibilities. I seem to remember a lot of shopping. Ahhh...the circle of life.
Can you spot me?

Five Snacks I enjoy:In a perfect, non weight-gaining world:
1. Vanilla ice cream

2. Turtle cheesecake
3. Key lime pie
4. Peach pie
5. Chocolate sheet cake

In the real world:
1. I don't get out of bed in the morning unless someone is patting my face or biting my feet. Both happen pretty much every day.

2. There's not much better than snuggling up with a warm cat on a cold night.

3. I love watching old TV shows on DVD.

4. I hate eating my veggies.
5. My freezer is in a constant state of chaos.

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

1. Play Secret Santa all year long

2. Buy some land and build a house

3. Have a skee ball room

4. Hire someone to come do my hair and makeup every morning
5. Buy ad time to keep really annoying commercials off the air

Five jobs that I have had
:
1. 5th grade teacher

2. Summer librarian

3. Vendor Services representative

4. Carnie

5. Secretary

Three of my habits:
1. I am a compulsive email checker.

2. I take my camera everywhere. A lot of times I forget to take it out, but I've always got it with me.

3. I check the South Oval at least once a day to see if there are more cat pictures. They are too funny, no matter what Jay says.
Comic genius, yes?

Five place I have lived:
1. Broken Arrow

2.
Tulsa
3. Norman

4.
Moore
5. Omaha

What do you want others to get from your blog
: Hmmm...That's a hard one. Right now it is pretty much just for updates and eventually I want it to be different. I guess maybe just a glimpse into our lives since maybe they are a little different than we thought they might be. Come along and see what happens! : )

Five People I am going to tag!: But don't feel obligated! Just do it if you want to. I had a really hard time coming up with these answers!
1.
Heather
2.
Alana
3. Michele

4. Edwena
5. Tiffany
