Happy Valentine's Day!

Jay and I don't normally do too much for Valentine's Day, but last night we did go to the hospital party--which, oddly enough, was a Mardi Gras party.

Usually the hospital party and the Daddy Daughter Dance are the same night, but this year the dance was the week before the party, so we were not quite as rushed.

We don't really have any spot in the house that's not cluttered to take pictures in, but they looked great, anyway!

We had a very full day that day, so Jack and I decided to spend the evening with takeout and a Once Upon a Time marathon.

We did a lot of fun things this year for Valentine's Mail, like making Valentine slime!

One evening we all went to the movies!

The Cloverbuds had a party at their meeting and we'll have another small party with friends this week.

We didn't do too much today, but we did go look at the house.  My love language is can lights.  (This is the ceiling above the master bathtub.)

The kids got bags with a few goodies, including this Lego puppy.

These are the Valentines the kids made for us in class yesterday!  Since they were the only students, the teacher let them come up with their own ideas and helped them make these original Valentines.  I think they did a great job!

Share the Fun

Friday night was the 4H Share the Fun talent show.  (The Cloverbuds made their own vests for the show!)

The kids were part of the large group act.

First, the Cloverbuds all came up on stage and they got a goodie bag.  (Apparently a camera phone is not the best for photographing things on stage!)

Cloverbuds can't be a big part of the skit, but they can be extras, so Alice got the part of holding up a sign.

 Jack was a pig...

 ...and a judge.

He also had a short speaking part at the end.

They won first place!  They were all so excited!  They have worked so hard the last six weeks!

Jack is Member of the Month for February!

The main advantage to this is that he has gotten to sit in the comfy chair during all of the practices!

Now that this is over, our regular lives can resume!

Lately...

Normal posting will hopefully resume soon, but lately our lives have been overtaken by basketball...

...and 4H.  This is part of Jack's costume for the upcoming skit for the talent show.

Only one more week and they'll be doing this on stage and our lives will return to normal--at least closer to it!

Fun Friday

Yesterday--for the first time in waaaaay too long--we took a Fun Friday.  We headed to Jasmine Moran with absolutely no educational objectives and just the plan to have fun.

The last time we were here was about a year and a half ago, but Alice still remembered the car and was very excited to get to work on it again.

It was pretty much perfect all around!

It was so nice to have a day just to ourselves with no other obligations.  For the last year and a half we've had so many other things going on and over the last couple of weeks I've finally decided we may need to let some of those things go soon.  I'm so glad for the chance to do it now, even if it's just for the day!

First Folio

Last week we visited the Sam Noble Museum to see the First Folio.

This book was put together a few years after Shakespeare's death by some fellow actors and if they hadn't put this folio together, there are 18 of his plays we wouldn't have today!

 It's open to Hamlet.

It's a small display with the book and several panels explaining about the folios and why they're important.  The kids liked this one that showed different actors in Shakespearean roles.

They also had some costumes on display!

There are some different activities scheduled throughout the month, so you might want to check their calendar before you visit--unless you're like us and go because you're already going to be in town for zoo class!
