Pumpkinville

Last Wednesday we left early for a trip to Pumpkinville!

We got there a little before they opened, so we spent some time walking around the gardens.

This year it was arranged like a town.

There were different areas set up all over with different activities.

We spotted a Lichtenstein scarecrow in the Art Gallery!

There are lots of great picture spots!

Alice calls these cattails "giant earwax things".

Alice said that when she walks down the side of the big hill, she looks like Elmo walking.

 They always like the games!

Turtle soup!

We had planned to go on Friday, but I'm glad we didn't wait because we would have been rained out.  It ended up being perfect weather for our trip!

The Way and the Truth and the Life

4H

This year one of the new things we're trying out is 4H.  (This was the night of the Most Green Contest!)

They meet once a week and usually have a speaker or an activity.  One night a K9 officer came and showed off some of the things his dog could do.

Another evening, a dad from the group brought his scout troop to demonstrate how to build a camp fire.

Once they got their fires going, they got to make s'mores.

The younger kids got to join in on the fun, too!

Alice is in the Cloverbuds group, which had their green night last time.

She got to write secret messages, build marshmallow towers, and have lots of fun!

Spook-A-Rama

Over Fall Break we went to Spook-A-Rama at the Kiddie Park in Bartlesville.

It was nice to be out there and not sweating!

It was crowded, but not as crowded as the last time we went, so they got to ride their favorites several times!

They had a spook house, which Jack loved.  Alice went through it once, but I'm not sure if she saw anything with her face crammed in my neck!

When Anna arrived, Jack had someone else to go through it with him!

While they waited in that line, Alice got a balloon turtle...

 ...and rode the trucks!

 Creepy train selfie!

We had a great time!  We were so glad Rachel and Anna got to join us!

The Kiddie Park was the end of a long day of a museum field trip and co-op, and we didn't get home until about 11:30, so the next morning was a late one!

Nighttime Storytime at the Gardens

I've shared before about the Linnaeus Teaching Gardens and the fun activities they have there.  Last week we went to a special nighttime storytime!  We saw the scarecrow we made at the last storytime of the summer, too!

There were different story stations set up that we rotated through.  We started with apples.

Then it was on to the pumpkin stories!

Our third stop was stories about the moon.

By that time, the sun was almost down.

We finished up with stories about nighttime creatures!
