Katy No Pocket

This week we have been rowing Katy No-Pocket, the story of a mama kangaroo with no pocket to carry her joey. We were going to do this book a couple of weeks ago when we were scheduled for a kangaroo class at the zoo, but that was the weekend we were felled by the stomach bug. When we went last week the kangaroos had been moved, so we still did not get to see them!

The cover of Jack's lapbook

Inside:
The map and kangaroo picture came from Enchanted Learning; the tool cards can be found on HomeschoolShare; the K game (the big kangaroo) came from KidsSoup; I made the animal families grid.

Back cover:
Fact sheet from KidsSoup

My friend Rachel made this cute apron with lots of pockets! I don't know if you can see it well in the picture, but he has lots of different animals in the different pockets.

Jack had a great time making this kangaroo. (I found it at KidsSoup.) He had the idea that he should glue buttons on the pocket to keep it on, so this Katy would not end up like Katy from the book. In her pocket are the leaves and grass that kangaroos like to eat.

Tool bingo (Doesn't he look excited in this picture?)
